If you want to be efficient and get things done rapidly, you must give up doing everything yourself. Certain tasks can be automated; they can be performed automatically for you and thus make you more efficient. And this is where macros and the powerful Jitbit-developed automation tool Macro Recorder comes in. You can use the application to create macros, to record mouse and keyboard actions, to convert macros to executables, and more.

To uncover all the functionality Macro Recorder has to offer, the first thing you’ll have to do is download a 504KB executable onto your PC (such a lightweight download will take but a moment to complete). Run the executable and you will be presented with a window that asks you to install Macro Recorder. Hit the “Install” button and wait for the process to complete. Macro Recorder can be installed on anything from Windows 2000 onward.

When Macro Recorder launches, it presents you with a “Welcome to Macro Recorder!” prompt that invites you to record a new macro or open a recent macro. By default, this prompt is always displayed when the application launches. Check the “Don’t show at startup” button to change this default behavior.

The Macro Recorder interface presents buttons for creating macros in the left hand side. The buttons to start recording and playing a macro are at the top. In the upper left hand corner there’s a traditional file menu. The large pane that’s empty when you launch Macro Recorder for the first time displays the commands that make up a macro.

There are two ways of creating macros with this Jitbit-developed application. One would be to use the buttons from the left hand side to insert mouse and keyboard commands. You can set it up so that Macro Recorder will automatically open a webpage, launch a file or program, start typing into a text file, and more. The other would be to use the Record function to record a macro. Start the recording, perform the action you would like Macro Recorder to perform automatically, stop the recording – the actions will be listed on the application’s interface so you can view or edit them.

Once you’re done creating a macro, you can compile it as an executable. Run the executable and the actions included in the macro will be performed automatically. And speaking about performing tasks automatically, you can schedule macros to be run at the time you specify. It should also be mentioned that you can bind macros to hotkeys – press a hotkey and the macro will be run.

Macro Recorder is only free to try; you can assess the application’s functionality for free for a limited amount of time. Once that trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using the application. If you don’t want to spend any money, you could go with the free Macro Recorder Lite edition. Be warned though that this edition has limited functionality to offer.

With Macro Recorder by your side, you will get things done faster, you will be more efficient. Creating and running macros is a piece of cake with this powerful automation tool.

Pros

Macro Recorder’s system requirements are very low, so it will work on any modern PC. It’s very easy to record and edit macros. You can compile macros as executables, schedule macros, and bind macros to hotkeys. There’s a useful Help file to aid you. There’s a free Lite version as well (it comes with fewer features).

Cons

Free to use for a limited amount of time.
